'Homeland' season 6 premiere date, spoilers: Carrie takes time off to be a mother to Franny

Carrie Mathison's (Claire Danes) return to the United States will mean more time spent with her daughter Franny (Luna Pfitzer) in the sixth season of the hit series "Homeland."
When the agent gave birth to Nicholas Brody's (Damian Lewis) child, she was not much of a mother to her. Her work with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) made sure she was away most of the time. Carrie also struggled with being a single parent to Franny. She certainly did not expect to get pregnant from her brief affair with a married man. Franny, who was born a few months after Brody died, was the image of her father with her ginger hair.
Carrie left Franny under her sister Maggie's (Amy Hargreaves) care. Now that she is heading back to the United States, she will have time to see her daughter often.
During the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour in January, Showtime President David Nevins said that the upcoming season of the hit Showtime series would be set domestically. He shared, as per Entertainment Weekly, that most of the scenes would be shot in the New York Area and that the writers have been busy conceptualizing storylines for the show.
Meanwhile, season 6 may also tackle Carrie's backstory before she became an agent. In the previous installment, viewers learned about Peter Quinn's (Rupert Friend) past via a flashback while he was fighting for his life in the hospital. The agent was exposed to sarin gas by the jihadists and suffered massive blood hemorrhage. Executive producer Alex Gansa told the Los Angeles Times that showing Carrie's past would be an interesting plot for the new season.
"Clearly she came to the attention of Saul Berenson probably through a professor at some university who picked her out as somebody who was incredibly perceptive and acute about human behavior ... somebody who could thrive in the duplicitous role of intelligence work overseas. Somebody recognized these gifts and alerted Saul for this fact and she was recruited by him," Gansa said.
"Homeland" season 6 is scheduled to air in September on Showtime.
