Huawei P8max release date, specs, features, price: Huawei's flagship smartphone with killer 6.8-inch display arriving June 26 to take on Apple iPhone 6 Plus

Huawei had unveiled the Huawei P8 smartphone, alongside a plus-sized companion, the P8 Max back in April at a special press conference held in London, but had not provided any release or pricing details at that time. Huawei has now announced that its P8 Max flagship smartphone will carry a price tag of roughly $610 and also released a teaser image hinting the device's release date as June 26.

The official price tag of approximately $610 for the Huawei P8max is certainly justified by the smartphone's specifications. The Huawei P8max boasts of a huge 6.8-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and 324ppi (pixel per inch) along with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating. The device is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 935 chipset that accommodates two quad-core processors: 2.2GHz Cortex-A53 and 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 and runs on a large 4,360 mAh battery, which provides up to 15 hours of video playback, 15 hours of Internet browsing, or 60 hours of music playback. Despite the huge battery size, Huawei has not made the P8max very thick and has kept the handset slender at 6.8 mm.

The Huawei P8max sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, dual-tone flash and a professional-grade Image Signal Processor, alongside a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls. The handset will run on Android v5.0.2 Lollipop straight out of the box, but could receive the Android 5.1 Lollipop update somewhere down the line. Huawei has officially confirmed that the P8max will arrive with a dual-SIM and dual standby support.

The Chinese company had recently announced that it shipped 50 million smartphones in the first half of 2015 and plans to launch the Huawei P8max flagship smartphone in more than 30 countries over the coming months.
