Michael (Brett Dier) will soon be back at his post as a police officer in the upcoming season of "Jane the Virgin."

Fans of the hit CW series are hopeful that Jane's (Gina Rodriguez) new husband will be up and running in the new installment. Michael was shot at the chest by his partner, who was actually baby Mateo's abductor in the past. Since the season ended with a cliffhanger, his true condition was not revealed. It is expected that season 3 will dwell on the aftermath of the shooting. Jane will likely be dying of worry for Michael. New updates, however, suggest that he will be survive the incident.

As per Bustle, Rodriguez recently posted a photo showing her and Dier on set. In the image, Michael is wearing his police uniform. Fans take it as a sign that his character will be back on his feet in no time.

One of the most awaited scenes in the new season is the newlyweds' honeymoon. Michael was shot the night of their wedding and they never got to enjoy their time together. It has been previously revealed that Jane will finally lose her virginity in the series. If it will not be with Michael, who will it be?

Meanwhile, the premiere episode is expected to be a tearjerker. The promo released by the CW shows Jane entreating Michael to fight for their family. The detective is shown lying on the hospital bed, unconscious. The nurse cannot say exactly what will happen to him, so Jane and the others are forced to wait for any improvement. There is also a scene where Jane is hunched over Michael's bed, talking to him softly, saying this will not be the end of their love story.

"Jane the Virgin" season 3 will premiere on Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
