'Narcos' season 2 update: Eric Lange cast as CIA agent; new emojis help fans celebrate show renewal
"Narcos" have had such a strong reception, both from viewers and critics, when it dropped its 10-episode season one last month. As such, Netflix renewed it for another season earlier this September. So what can fans expect in season two? A brand new character, among others.
Eric Lange has just signed on to become a series regular for Netflix's crime drama TV series, "Narcos." He will step into the shoes of Stechner, Medellin's Special Agent in Charge of the CIA. As Stechner, he will be working with the DEA in its attempts to shut down the Medellin Cartel and capture the drug kingpin, Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura).
"Narcos" is based on the real-life struggle between Pablo Escobar and the United States' DEA agents, specifically Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook) and Javier Peña (Pedro Pascal). Created by Carlo Bernardo, Chris Brancato, Annab Khan, ad Doug Miro, the show is helmed by Brazilian filmmaker, José Padilha. Despite criticisms for its lack of sympathetic characters, the Netflix original series has earned praises for its brilliant directing and strong acting.
Many have predicted that "Narcos" is going to be Netflix's next big thing. And the latest emojis spreading on the Internet may just prove how huge the show is going to be. Elite Daily has posted some emojis of every possible character from the show. Of course, main characters Pablo, Steve, and Javier got their own emojis as well.
There will be some changes in the show's production team when it enters season two. Chris Brancato, who created the show and acted as showrunner, will leave the show for ABC's "Of Kings and Prophets." Replacing him is Adam Fierro, joining the team of executive producers composed of Eric Newman and Padilha.
No word yet on when "Narcos" returns for its new season. Stay tuned for more updates.
