New York Knicks trade rumors 2016: Kevin Martin to be acquired?

The New York Knicks are among those who are having an eventful off-season but the roster moves might not be over for them with the new season still weeks away. They might still address some issues like their shooting and a player who can help them with this is veteran guard Kevin Martin.

In a report by SportsBlog, it was mentioned that the Knicks' three-point shooting had a bad rating in the "NBA 2K17" game and it was opined that it could be a problem they face in real life.

Looking at the Knicks' current roster, they have a number of players who can hit it from the outside. But aside from Sasha Vujačić, there is no pure shooter in the team.

Perhaps that is the reason why SportsBlog suggested for the Knicks to pursue Martin who is a free agent.

Martin has a nice stroke especially from three-point country, and in his entire career, he is known as a scorer. Last season, those attributes were still in display but they were immediately taken off the scene when he joined the San Antonio Spurs.

With the Knicks, it is unknown if Martin can get the touches he was having before that made him a deadly scorer. Now that New York has a star-laden team, he will not be a top option, similar with his time in San Antonio, but the 33-year-old can surely be of help when it comes to shooting.

All the Knicks must do if they are aiming to land Martin is offer him a contract. This move is also unlikely to affect their salary cap because they can ink him to a veteran's minimum deal. It is a win-win situation because if he performs well, then they got him for a steal. If he fails to create an impact, they did not spend much and waiving him is an option.
