Panasonic Lumix GX85 release date, specs: Mirrorless camera with DSLR-like quality, 4K video capability

Panasonic has added a new mirrorless interchangeable camera to its lineup — the Lumix GX85. The more affordable version of the Lumix GX8 delivers high-quality output comparable to DSLRs but with a more compact camera body.
The Panasonic Lumix GX85 features a 16-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor without a low pass filter. The elimination of the low pass filter helps boost the camera's fine detail resolving power by nearly 10 percent, compared to other 16-megapixel sensors. The sensor, mated with the new Venus engine, is able to produce clear and high-quality images. ISO sensitivity ranges from 200 to 25,600.
The GX85 comes with a new five-axis Dual Image Stabilizer (IS). The Dual IS, which features the combination of a two-axis Optical Image Stabilizer and a five-axis Body Image Stabilizer, will minimize blurring of images and videos, even when shooting in low-light conditions.
The camera also comes with the Contrast Auto Focus (AF) System with Depth From Defocus technology. It can focus on subjects in approximately 0.07 seconds with up to 240 fps. The AF system also comes with extensive functions like face/eye detection AF, advanced low-light AF, and one-shot AF.
To frame photos, the GX85 comes with a Live View Finder with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 2764K dot resolution. There is also a 3-inch touch screen monitor with a 1040K dot resolution. The display can tilt up by 80 degrees, tilt down by 45 degrees.
The GX85 is also capable of capturing videos in 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160) and Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1080). The camera comes with three exclusive 4K shooting modes — 4K Burst, 4K Burst (Start/Stop), and 4K Pre-Burst. Users will also be able to save 8-megapixel high-resolution images using the 4K Photo function.
There is also WiFi connectivity so users will be able to easily transfer and share captured photos and videos.
The Panasonic Lumix GX85 will be available to purchase by the end of May for $799.99. It will come with the 12-32 mm F3.5-5.6 lens kit.
