Rumors about Atlus' highly successful "Persona" franchise releasing the game's sixth installment, "Persona 5," have been going around for quite some time.

It has been almost seven years since the fifth main entry to the series was made available, so the clamor for the upcoming title comes as no surprise. Previously, there have been leaks which claimed that the game would arrive by 2016, however, a recent confirmation from one of Atlus' key decision makers has hinted that "Persona 5" would arrive sooner than expected.

"Persona," whose first game debuted almost two decades ago in 1996, is a role-playing videogame published and developed by Atlus, famous for creating the "Shin Megami Tensei" videogame series. The game follows a group of high school students as they deal with their encounters with the supernatural. Through a fortune-telling session, the students eventually summon the titular "Personas," which would help them fight the enemies during the course of the game.

After the fifth installment of the franchise came out in 2008, news about the release of the sixth title surfaced. According to the rumors, "Persona 5" would be released initially in Europe come 2016. Thankfully, Josh Hardin, PR manager for Atlus USA, disputed in an interview with Godisageek.com, the speculations suggesting that "Persona 5" would be released next year.

"That's just completely wrong. A lot of people assume that this is correct because they published something back in what, 2008? It just isn't true. I'm working on getting those incorrect listing removed. We are trying to get publishers locked in for our titles in EU and will announce things when they are locked in," said Hardin.

Hardin, however, announced in the same article that the game would arrive much sooner than everyone thought. He confirmed that the game would be available before the end of 2015.

"The only thing I can confirm for Persona 5 is 2015," he said.

No announcement has been made detailing the exact date of "Persona 5's" release.
