'Pitch Perfect 3' cast news, updates: Cast members share photos as production begins; Andy Allo signs on

The Bellas are back. Some of the cast members of the upcoming film "Pitch Perfect 3" have taken to social media to share the good news: production has officially begun. The photos feature the ladies of the Barden Bellas reunited.

Anna Kendrick, who plays Beca, shared a photo of herself posing with other cast members, including Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, and Rebel Wilson. Simply captioned "Team," the girls were all smiles and are clearly happy to be back in the game. Wilson shared the same photo with different lighting and little close-up, and captioned the image "#PP3 #Bellas Day One Pitches x."

Camp also shared a photo on her Instagram page — this time, some of the girls are posing with producer Elizabeth Banks, who also plays Gale. Snow, on the other hand, posted an image of herself posing beside a Kenny G photo during a table read. "I tried really hard to work in a Kenny G cameo," she wrote in the caption. "I don't think he's available-but production got us this!"

But after winning championships and going through a lot together, it still won't be smooth sailing for the Bellas from here on out. In fact, they've got new competition in the form of actress-singer Andy Allo, who will be playing a character named Charity. According to Entertainment Weekly, Allo's character is a vocalist of Dew, presumably a rival music group of the Barden Bellas.

Apart from Allo, Ruby Rose from "Orange Is the New Black" is also reportedly joining the long list of cast members. Hailee Steinfeld, who is not present in the photos posted, will also return to reprise her role. However, there are a handful of people who will not be returning for the third film.

Skylar Astin — who plays Beca's boyfriend, Jesse — shared the news via his Instagram page. "As of now, the Trebles and I won't be in the third 'Pitch Perfect' movie," he wrote. "They seem to be taking the story in a different direction."

And while fans will certainly miss seeing the goofy Treblemakers, it will be interesting to see what new horizons there are for the Bellas to explore.

"Pitch Perfect 3" is set to premiere on Dec. 22.
