'Pokémon Go' Generation 2 update: More evolution for Eevee, Slowpoke, Onix and more

"Pokémon Go" will reportedly be updated soon with 100 new Pokémon from Generation 2. If rumors are true, then users can expect more evolved forms of Gen 1 monsters, such as Eevee, Onix and Slowpoke.
The current "Pokémon Go" has three evolutions for Eevee: Vaporeon, Flareon and Jolteon. According to International Business Times, a Redditor provided a list of Gen 1 evolutions arriving with Gen 2, two of which are new forms of Eevee. Once the update with the new Pokémon rolls out, users can then choose to turn their Eevee into Umbreon or Espeon.
It is unknown if there is a naming trick that can ensure which of the two will be obtained. Players can get a Vaporeon, Flareon or Jolteon if they name the Eevee Rainer, Pyro or Sparky respectively before evolution, Parent Herald reported.
If there is a trick, it might be possible that it is not dependent on name. Umbreon and Espeon are two sides of the same coin. In "Pokémon" lore, the evolution depends on what time of the day it is after gaining a certain friendship level. If Eevee is evolved at night, it turns into Espeon, and if during the day, an Umbreon.
It is possible that the same mechanics will be used in "Pokémon Go," but it still has to be confirmed.
"Pokémon Go" Gen 2 would also include an evolution for Onix called Steelix. The Pokémon, at the moment, cannot be evolved further. Slowking is also coming, which is another evolved form of Gen 1's Slowpoke, and can currently only turn into Slowbro.
Other current Pokémon in the game that are receiving new evolutions are Poliwhirl (Politoed), Gloom (Bellossom), Golbat (Crobat), Chansey (Blissey), Scyther (Scizor) and Porygon (Porygon2).
Niantic has yet to announce the release date of the "Pokémon Go" Generation 2 update.
