'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date update: trailer for 'RDR2' reportedly canceled

(Rockstar Games)'RDR 2' announcement was not given at E3 2016.

Take-Two Interactive previously teased that it will announce something big at the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Fans were excited to finally get updates about "Red Dead Redemption 2," which they expected. However, the event has already come and gone and somehow fans were disappointed once again with a no-show from the game.

It remains unclear why there weren't updates dropped about the "Red Dead Redemption" sequel at the event, but speculations were rife that it had something to do with the recent Orlando shooting.

A video posted on YouTube by GameRiot mentioned that the game was supposed to make an appearance at the event. However, Sony reportedly canceled the release of the footage at the last minute as it contains scenes that resemble the events of the Orlando shooting.

The report was said to be brought by an industry insider, who said that taking down the trailer was done to pay respect to the families of the victims of the shooting. However, Adam Boyes, PlayStation's VP of Third Party Relations & Developer Technology Group debunked the rumors and confirmed that 'Red Dead Redemption 2' was never part of the presentation.

"No, this is not true. The length and content we showed has been locked and unchanged for months," Boyes responded to a question on Twitter.

Although rumors about the sequel have become stronger for the past several months, "Red Dead Redemption 2" is expected to be released in 2017. There had been leaks in the past and more recently, an alleged screenshot circulated and it is believed that the scene was taken from the sequel. Although Rockstar Games didn't explicitly confirm anything about "Red Dead Redemption 2," people have reason to believe that the game is currently in development.

The big question now is how long will people wait before the game gets launched or released? Fans will just have to wait for more updates. They can only hope that news from Rockstar or Take-Two interactive will come sooner.
