Samsung Galaxy J5 release date, specs, features, news: provide first close look of upcoming mid-range smartphone in leaked live pictures
One of Samsung's new devices to be added to its Galaxy J series, the Galaxy J5, has been leaked with a set of new images revealing the handset's design. In April, the Galaxy J5 Dual SIM had received Bluetooth certification and its variants had also been spotted on the website of the Chinese certification authority TENAA last month. Early this month, Samsung China had accidentally uploaded the user manuals of the Galaxy J5 to reveal that the device would borrow the TouchWiz UX featured in the flagship Galaxy S6 and its counterpart, the Galaxy S6 Edge.
According to the specifications of the devices listed earlier on TENAA's database, the Galaxy J5 (model number SM-J500F) sports a 5-inch HD screen and is powered by a 1.2GHz octa-core processor, along with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB of onboard storage (expandable up to 64GB via microSD card). The Galaxy J5 sports an 8-megapixel rear camera (CMOS sensor) along with a 5-megapixel front shooter and a 2,600 mAh battery.
The new live image leaks confirm the earlier TENAA listing of the Samsung Galaxy J5 with model number SM-J500F and sport the same design, revealing the handset's full plastic body and removable back panel. The images show that the Galaxy J5 will feature a removable battery, while the SIM card and microSD card slot will be housed under the back panel. The new reports also confirm that the Galaxy J5 will get Samsung's newest UI, as well as Android Lollipop out of the box, allowing users to enjoy new features introduced for the first time in the Galaxy S6, including the Smart Manager app (for managing RAM and storage), wide selfie mode in the camera app, and support for FM radio.
Samsung has not yet denied or confirmed reports of the Galaxy J5, though an official announcement should be forthcoming shortly.
