Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will be released in Japan by the end of October via KDDI and NTT DoCoMo, according to the official press release of Samsung Electronics.

"We are thrilled to introduce the Galaxy Note Edge to Japanese consumers for the first time in the world," said Tomonori Miwa, Sales Director of Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics Japan.

"Samsung has demonstrated its leadership in the technology industry by pioneering numerous innovations, as evidenced in the Galaxy Note Edge. I believe the Galaxy Note Edge will meet the aesthetics of the most sophisticated Japanese consumers." Miwa added.

The new flagship smartphone Galaxy Note Edge specs features a 5.6-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED screen with 2560 x 1440 160 pixels resolution, 2.7 GHz Qua Core Processor, 3 GB RAM, 16 MP rear-facing camera, 3.7 MP selfie-camera and a 3000 mAh fast-charging battery pack.

The smartphone runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and there is no word yet about a potential Android 5.0 Lollipop update, which will first be launched on Nexus 6.

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has a unique and "edgy" design that could potentially make the difference, if and when consumers embrace its idea.

The "Edge Screen" maximizes display and redefines multitasking experience using a Note.

"The main focus of the designers was to provide the analog feeling. When flipping through the pages of a book or note, many people flip it right to left, right being the initial contact point."

"Moreover, the Edge Screen is supposed to serve as the extension of the main screen in terms of usability. So the main screen needs to be literally the 'main' display. Since people generally tend to read from the left to right, the designers thought it would be the right decision to place the Edge Screen on the right side."

Notifications will be reflected on Galaxy Note Edge Screen to avoid disturbing users while browsing or watching videos.

In the United States, Verizon is expected to be the first carrier to offer Samsung Galaxy Note Edge on its upcoming November release date.
