The universe is set to become a bit bigger with the expected return of "Steven Universe" to Cartoon Network. However, no set return date has been released yet.

Fans of "Steven Universe" are familiar with the series' penchant of going on months or weeks long breaks after airing five new episodes consecutively. These blocks of episodes have been dubbed "Stevenbombs," with the last block airing from Jan. 4 to 8.

With the last "Stevenbomb" aired more than a month ago, fans are already anticipating Steven's next adventures with the Crystal Gems. The last time viewers saw the human-gem hybrid, Peridot had officially become a member of the Crystal Gems. A recently released promo hints that fans will soon be seeing another familiar face.

In the short clip released by Cartoon Network for the episode titled "Barn Mates," Peridot appears to be giving Lapis Lazuli a present. This had immediately raised questions among fans, and the two most asked are why is Peridot giving her a present and how did Lapis Lazuli separate herself from Jasper?

The last time viewers saw Lapis Lazuli, she and Jasper had fused into Malachite and was trapped at the bottom of the sea. But how Lapis was able to get away from Jasper and how she ended up in the barn seems to be too much for just one episode, something that Movie Pilot pointed out as well. The site also suggested that "Barn Mates" might just focus on the development of Lapis and Peridot's relationship.

Some fans might be wondering about Jasper's fate, but as the theme for season 2 of "Steven Universe" seems to be about redemption, the show might focus more on whether or not Lapis Lazuli will be joining the Crystal Gems.

If Lapis Lazuli ever joins the Crystal Gems, there's no doubt it would be due to Steven. She might not be too impressed with the Gems or with Earth, but she has gone to great lengths to protect Steven.

Lapis Lazuli's journey or redemption arc might sound similar to Peridot's, but these are all speculations at this point. But if it does happen, Steven would also be mirroring his mother's mission.
