Sue (Eden Sher) may be booted out of college in the upcoming episode 2, titled "A Tough Pillow to Swallow," of the eighth season of the American family sitcom "The Middle."

After forgetting to renew her financial aid, Sue gets kicked out of college, but maybe not for good as Mike (Neil Flynn) tries to help her. Frank (Patricia Heaton), on the other hand, is doing her best to teach Brick (Atticus Shaffer) how to properly swallow a pill, which he needs to take for his ear infection. Meanwhile, Hutch (Alphonso McAuley) is mad at the fact that Axl (Charlie McDermott) decides to use the Winnebago without asking for his permission. Apparently, Axl uses it to visit his new girlfriend, leaving Hutch without any ride to class.

Although ABC has not released any promo trailer for "A Tough Pillow to Swallow," promo photos show a horrified Sue while staring at her laptop, perhaps, this is after she checks her email about her financial aid. It looks like Hutch will express his anger, while he and Axl play American football. Mike is also seen negotiating with the college bursar, maybe asking to reinstate Sue.

Meanwhile, Heaton shared about this season of "The Middle" in a recent interview with ABC 7 News. She revealed that the new season will see the kids step out of their comfort zones and face different real-life situations.

"I think not a lot of middle American families are represented on TV the way the Hecks [family] represent them," Heaton added. "They don't shy away from daily struggles, and yet they find the joy in the simplicity. They find the joy in the kind of community you find in small towns."

The season premiere, titled "The Core Group," saw Axl introducing his new girlfriend April (Greer Grammer).

"The Middle" season 8 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
