"The Originals" season 3 returned to The CW last Friday and it offered up an intense rollercoaster ride. And now, fans will see the Mikaelson brothers teaming up to save their sister Freya (Riley Voelkel).

The upcoming episode 17 of "The Originals" season 3 will show Freya, kidnapped, at the mercy of a new dastardly enemy. The Mikaelsons will have to put a hold on their disagreements so they can rush to save Freya's life before anything bad happens.

Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Finn (Casper Zafer) will head to Mystic Falls after following a lead. The two will then encounter Deputy Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig). Unfortunately, the deputy does not take kindly to the Mikaelson brothers.

Klaus (Joseph Morgan, who also directed the episode) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), on the other hand, will rally together to find out what Lucien (Andrew Lees) intends to do with a secret plan of his. Things aren't going well for Davina (Danielle Campbell) though as she struggles with her relationship with Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) after his increasingly strange behavior. She will wonder if saving the relationship is worth it.

Fans are excited about Roerig's guest appearance as Deputy Matt Donovan, as he plays the same character on another CW hit "The Vampire Diaries." However, executive producer Michael Narducci remains cautious to label the episode as a crossover.

"I would say it's an appearance — a special guest appearance — but I wouldn't call it a crossover and get fans believing we're doing some big epic thing," Narducci explained to TVLine. However, he also noted that the payoff is very well worth it.

"The fact is, ['The Originals' and 'The Vampire Diaries'] share a joint universe," the EP continued. "For reasons related to that, we're going to see some of our characters head to that hallowed ground [Mystic Falls]. They've got business they need to take care of, and it just so happens that while they're there, they cross paths with someone whose job it is to protect that city."

Meanwhile, a thrilling promo video for the upcoming episode has also been released.

"The Originals" season 3 episode 17, titled "Behind the Black Horizon," will premiere on Friday, April 8 on The CW.
