'The Originals' season 4 trailer, spoilers: Trailer reveals Klaus in chains and Marcel in charge
The CW recently unveiled its first trailer for "The Vampire Diaries" spin-off series "The Originals" season 4, which will premiere this March.

"This week marks five years since the fall of the Mikaelsons," says the narrator, as the trailer pans through an image of a chained and desolate-looking Klaus (Joseph Morgan). "We've managed to keep our monsters buried and now we've got to make sure that they stay buried."
The series picks up five years after the events in season 3, with Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) taking over New Orleans. But when "The Originals" returns, the Mikaelson siblings —Elijah (Daniel Gillies), Rebekah (Claire Holt), Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic), and Freya (Riley Voelkel) — are still incapacitated, and, with their leader Klaus trapped like a prisoner, the family might not be able to rise up quite yet. Since Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and her daughter Hope (Summer Fontana) will be back in town, they will help their family restore their name.
In the trailer, Hayley can be seen searching for the respective cures for the Mikaelson's varying ailments. Eventually, the werewolf might cross paths with Marcel, who would definitely prevent her from pursuing her quest. With Marcel enjoying his Mikaelson-free reign, the last thing he would want is for the family to regain their control over New Orleans.
Now that Klaus and Hayley's daughter has grown, her powers are expected to manifest. The powerful tribrid might be her family's only hope for redemption.
"The Vampire Diaries" spin-off will be back this March, shortly after the original series airs its finale. "The Vampire Diaries" series finale is slated to premiere on March 10. Although the show will be coming to a close, viewers can expect to see one more crossover, which will be in "The Originals" season 4 episode 8. Little is known about the episode, but Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis) is expected to visit the city of New Orleans by then.
"The Originals" returns March 17, Friday, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
