WWE 2K16 Future Stars Pack DLC update: fix for universe mode problems

(2K Sports)

In late January, gaming website GamesRadar reported that the WWE 2K16 Future Stars Pack DLC has crashed the "Universe" mode of the gameplay. On Feb. 2, 2K Sports released the latest patch for PS4 and PS3 that fixes some issues, including the Universe mode problem.

The Future Stars Pack was supposed to add Samoa Joe, Blake, Murphy and Los Matadores to the game as playable characters, but it had corrupted save files and reset players' progress in the game's acclaimed Universe Mode in the process, which upset many avid gamers who now have to start the game all over again.

The 2K forums have detailed the patch fixes made. "When players download and install Patch 1.05, Universe Mode saves will function normally," the post noted.

The fixes applicable to the Universe hiatus include (via 2K forums):

  • Issues on WWE Universe elements that reset when the WWE 2K16 Future Stars Pack was installed where certain WWE Universe elements would reset and changes wouldn't save properly when exiting the mode or restarting the title.
  • Issues with Universe elements resetting encountered when users installed WWE 2K16 Future Stars Pack on Patch 4. Lost data from pre-WWE 2K16 Future Stars Pack installation may not be restored anymore, particularly with regards to statistics and ongoing rivalry stories for shows impacted by the reset. Affected users should not have to reset their entire Universe save state to continue playing the mode, which will now save changes properly.

The new patch also fixes gameplay, such as the additional move (signature/Finisher combos) for The Rock and Ultimate Warrior; visual presentation, such as the appearance of necklaces when a entering with a Championship; WWE creations such as fixing the problem with Title Motions; and 2K Showcase, such as the ability to switch targets at will when a user is using Manual Targeting.

Additionally, 2K Sports included support for the upcoming 2015 Hall of Fame Showcase DLC, one that features new characters, such as Scott Hall and Arn Anderson. It will also be packed with a number of classic bouts.

Meanwhile, the Future Stars DLC Pack is now safe to download along with patch 1.05 on PS4. Fixes on Xbox One will be coming next soon.
