The Yalu jailbreaks for iOS 10 have been out for some time, and custom features from Cydia have just been re-enabled for purchase. The unlock for iOS 10.2 has been bumped up to beta 7 version.

Two packages are currently available, one for iOS versions 10.0.1 to 10.1.1 and a newer version targetting iOS 10.2. They are commonly referred to as "Yalu1011" and "Yalu102," and both are currently deemed incomplete but mostly functional. Yalu102 has received an update for its beta 7 version. While iPhone 7 units are still not supported by Yalu102, jailbreak author Luca Todesco has promised via Twitter of upcoming support for the new phones.

In a related update, Cydia has received its own update up to version 1.1.28 and has re-enabled purchases for its packages. Cydia creator Jay Freeman, better known as Saurik to his online followers, have assessed version 1.1.28 and the new Yalu jailbreaks to be stable enough to allow developers to sell modifications through the Cydia store. This new version brings better support for IOS 10 and updates to its package management system.

For iPhone 7 owners waiting for their Yalu102, Tech Times warns of Apple pushing an update to iOS 10.2.1. Those waiting to unlock their iPhone 7 are advised to defer the upgrade and to save their SHS2 blobs should a downgrade be needed.

The Yalu jailbreaks only work with a select range of 64-bit devices at this time. The unlocks will not work with 32 bit devices, which include iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPod touch 5G, iPad mini, iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad 4, nor will they work with Apple devices older than the previously mentioned. They will fail with iOS firmwares before 10.0.1 as well. iPhone Hacks has a comprehensive FAQ on device support and the iOS 10 jailbreak in general.

Yalu102 and Yalu1011 are semi-tethered, which means the jailbreak becomes disabled when the device reboots. The jailbreak and all modifications will remain intact, but will need to be re-enabled by using the Yalu jailbreak app. The jailbreak app also expires after seven days unless installed with a developer Apple ID, and it will need to be reinstalled after that.

Prospective jailbreakers are strongly advised to get the packages direct from Todesco's links, since unofficial sources may have been modified to include malware.
