'Ant-Man 2' news: brief update from director Peyton Reed, says sequel will be 'weirder'

"Ant-Man" proved himself huge when he debuted on the big screen, even prompting Marvel Entertainment and Disney to come up with a sequel. While buzz around "Ant-Man 2," which is now being touted as "Ant-Man and the Wasp," is getting stronger, works on the film has just started.
There is not much to report yet about "Ant-Man and the Wasp" but director Peyton Reed has recently attended a special preview of the "Ant-Man" Blu-ray release. In the said press conference, he checked in to give a brief update about the film's development. As the film is not set to be released until 2018, only the writing process has started for the much-awaited film. And Reed adds that, as the title suggests, fans can expect a more in-depth look at the relationship between Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), who will eventually be The Wasp.
"Part of thing that we're going to explore, as shown in the comics, is how [the Ant-Man and Wasp] are such a great duo and partnership. Part of that, in any partnership, is how they relate to each other as people. Where will their personal relationship be at that point, and what will be their fighting style together?," says Reed as quoted by Newsarama.
Reed also pointed out that while movie number two is going to retain much of what made "Ant-Man" a hit with moviegoers, it will also be a whole lot "weirder."
While news on "Ant-Man and the Wasp" remains scant, fans have the "Ant-Man" DVD and Blu-Ray release to look forward to in a few days (Dec. 8, to be exact). The film had only been previously released as a digital download. The film is also included in a Marvel fan's ultimate Marvel Cinematic Phase 2 movie binge-watching, as a 13-disc "Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two Collection" boxed set is set to release on the same day.
"Ant-Man and the Wasp" is scheduled for July 2, 2018.
