While the Nexus 5X has managed to capture the hearts and minds of those looking for the latest Android device with 6.0 Marshmallow on board, the same can be said for the BlackBerry Priv, which runs the earlier Android OS, Lollipop. Here is how these two devices compare in a face off.

Design

In terms of design, it is easily noticeable that the BlackBerry Priv has several unique features. One of these is the unique physical keyboard that is designed to slide behind the screen when it is not in use. Speaking of its screen, it has dual curved edges, and one of these can display the amount of charge available in the battery. As for the build of the device, it has a metal frame and a soft woven material on its back, which ensures that users can keep a solid grip on the device. However, there is no fingerprint scanner on it and it only comes in one color: black.

Compared to this, the Nexus 5X has a polycarbonate body with no metal, but it has a fine fingerprint scanner incorporated into its back panel. In terms of colors, the device has three on offer: quartz, ice and carbon.

Display

When it comes to display quality, the BlackBerry Priv takes the lead as it has a 5.4 inch AMOLED screen, with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 540 pixels per inch. Android Authority also states that the screen on the Priv has the right color saturation and is extremely sharp. As for the Nexus 5X, it has an LCD screen measuring 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 423 pixels per inch.

Specs

Comparing the hardware on these two smartphones, it is clear that they are similar. Onboard both of them is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, which is coupled with a hexa-core CPU and an Adreno 418 GPU.

Memory

There is no memory card slot on the Nexus 5X, but the BlackBerry Priv has no such limitation, with its card slot able to support up to 200 GB. As for RAM, the Priv has 3 GB onboard and its competitor lags with 2 GB.

Camera

The 18 megapixel camera with OIS on the BlackBerry Priv is ranked at number five on the DxOMark list, while the 12.3 megapixel camera on the Nexus 5X has no ranking.
