'Final Fantasy 15' news: Learning more about flying car Regalia

"Final Fantasy 15's" Regalia will be unlike many of the airships seen in previous installments of the franchise.
First off, the Regalia will be different simply because it's not just an airship.
Fans who have been tracking the game's development have likely seen the Regalia in action as Noctis and his friends use it to travel down some winding roads, so in that sense, it will function as two different kinds of vehicles.
The Regalia also starts off just as a car and won't be capable of flying until later on, so players thinking about taking to the skies early on in the game will likely be disappointed.
"Final Fantasy 15's" Regalia is also different from some of the other airships featured in previous installments of the franchise because of its size.
Unlike "Final Fantasy 7's" Highwind or "Final Fantasy 10's" Fahrenheit, the Regalia is not quite the massive airship that long-time fans of the franchise may have gotten used to, and time will tell if players will warm up to that change.
The Regalia also seems as though it will not be designed for combat.
In speaking to Game Informer, director Hajime Tabata revealed that unlike with other "Final Fantasy" games, there will be no enemies in the sky simply waiting for players whenever the Regalia is being used as an airship. At the very least, it seems that players can look forward to using the Regalia to steer through some friendly skies.
There's still a lot that's unknown about the Regalia at this point, though it certainly seems that the car itself will be an essential part of "Final Fantasy 15."
Perhaps, players will also be able to tweak the Regalia beyond just outfitting it with flying gear later on, thus turning it into an even more significant element of the upcoming game than it already seems to be.
More details about the Regalia are also expected to be revealed closer to the game's release.
"Final Fantasy 15" is currently scheduled to be released on Sept. 30.
