Nearly 11 months ago, Square Enix surprised fans with the announcement of the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake," and since then, fans have already discovered more details about the upcoming game.

After shocking fans at E3 2015 with the announcement of the remake, Square Enix followed that up a few months later by sharing another trailer at the PlayStation Experience 2015 event that gave fans an even better look at the new game.

The trailer not only showed off improved visuals, it also hinted at some of the potential gameplay changes that could be coming, such as the game utilizing a more action-oriented battle system as opposed to the classic turn-based style featured in the original title.

Since then, Square Enix has largely stayed silent regarding the status of the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake."

Back in April, the game's producer Yoshinori Kitase revealed some details about the remake during an interview with Game Informer.

Though the interview did hint at what kind of changes could be featured in the remake, specific details were still not revealed and fans are now wondering about what exactly is next for the eagerly awaited game.

At this point, it would seem that the next step for Square Enix is to reveal more about what they plan to specifically change about the original. After all, if they are planning to include some significant changes, then it would probably benefit them just a bit to see how fans might react to what they have in mind.

Square Enix could even take to the E3 2016 stage with new "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" footage in hand, or if not that, then more details could be revealed even later this year.

With "Final Fantasy 15" already scheduled to be released on Sept. 30, Square Enix could attempt to keep the gaming world's eyes glued on them as they follow that launch with new footage showing off more of the remake.

With any luck, the latter part of 2016 may even include Square Enix finally giving the first episode of the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" a target release date, or at the very least, perhaps even just a release window.
