As soon as the Galaxy S7 was unveiled a day before MWC 2016 kicked off, the smartphone was being compared to the iPhone 6s. One of the major areas that comparisons have been carried out is in cameras, which have shown that the Galaxy S7 has significant advantages over its competitor.

Camera Quality

When it comes to camera quality on paper, the Galaxy S7 and the iPhone 6s are similar as each has a 12-megapixel camera onboard. For the Galaxy S7, this is a major step down as it previously used to have a 16-megapixel camera while for the iPhone 6s, it is an improvement from the previous 8-megapixel version on the iPhone 6. However, in terms of the quality of images and videos shot by these devices, BGR states that the Galaxy S7 has an edge as it provides better contrast. Also, the images created by the device from Samsung have much better color quality and results in vibrant colors.

Low light

In settings where there is low light, the camera on the Galaxy S7 effortlessly overwhelms the iPhone 6s. This aspect was clear after the Galaxy S7 was released and several photos were taken in such settings with minimal lighting. Phandroid states that in this setting, the smartphone from Samsung literally "destroys" the iPhone 6s and even performs better than last year's Galaxy S6. Many have noted that this superior performance of the Galaxy S7 in low light conditions is due to the new camera onboard the device and also due to its f/1.7apeture. The Galaxy S7 also comes with a Sony IMX260 camera sensor, which is more improved compared to the previous IMX240 sensor which was on the Galaxy S6, and it is capable of capturing 95 percent more light than its predecessor.

Autofocus

As for autofocus, a video recorded by the YouTube user SuperSafTV shows how the device from Samsung reacts much faster than the iPhone 6s. Additonally, there are indications that the Galaxy S7 comes with better dynamic range.
