Fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere of "Grey's Anatomy" season 13. And to keep them at bay, a new poster has been released featuring half of the face of the show's leading lady, Meredith Gray (Ellen Pompeo), juxtaposed with the silhouette of the Seattle skyline.
The photo was exclusively acquired by TVLine and boasts an intriguing blue, black, and white color scheme. The poster comes with the ABC series' premiere date, but is noticeably without a tagline, very much unlike seasons past. The publication pointed out a possible interpretation of the poster, which has to do with the recent turn of events involving Meredith's love life.
It was made clear in the previous season that Meredith's relationship with Nathan (Martin Henderson) was supposedly purely physical. However, things may change in the upcoming season. Meredith has undoubtedly suffered through the tragic loss of a loved one in the form of husband Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey). So it remains to be seen if she is ready to take on another serious relationship. However, if she is ready, there may be something — or someone — standing in her way.
It was previously reported that Owen (Kevin McKidd) may not be all too keen about the budding relationship between Meredith and Nathan. Even though he is still in the dark about it, McKidd believes that his character will definitely find out in the next season. The actor went on to say that Owen will most certainly not approve of the relationship, given his close sibling-like bond with Meredith. Additionally, there is some history between Owen and Nathan involving the former's sister.
Speaking of romantic relationships, there has also been talk about Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Alex (Justin Chambers). Season 12 saw Jo not wanting to marry Alex, which resulted in a fight. It is believed that season 13 will pave the way for Jo to explain to Alex the reason behind her decision.
"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 will premiere on Sept. 22, Thursday, on ABC.
