With the demand for metal bodied smartphones increasing, it is no surprise that Chinese manufacturers are increasingly churning out these devices. However, among their competitors is the HTC One M9 which is considered to be one of the prettiest smartphones of this year.

Design

These devices have premium elements which give them a good edge compared to plastic devices. The One M9 comes with a metal body and a polish layered on by hand that gives the dual colored device a good look. However it does not have a fingerprint scanner and in terms of colors offers five options gray, a silver/gold combination, a gold/pink combination, gold and pink. As for the Huawei Mate 8 it does not combine two colors on its body but it too has a metal build. The body of the device also has curved edges and a fingerprint scanner on its back and as for colors, there are four options gold, silver, gray and brown.

Display

Both devices have similar resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels on their displays. However, the Super LCD3 screen on the HTC One M9 is much smaller measuring 5.0 inches while the LCD screen on the Mate 8 measures 6.0 inches.

Specs

The HiSilicon Kirin 950 chipset on the Mate 8 is coupled with an octa-core CPU and a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU, and it is faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset on the One M9 which coupled with an octa-core CPU and an Adreno 430 GPU.

Memory

With each device having a memory slot, the device from Huawei can support up to 128 GB of external storage while its competitor supports up to 200 GB. As RAM, the One M9 comes with 3 GB while it the Mate 8 with 32 GB storage has 3 GB and its 64 GB and 128 GB versions each have 4 GB onboard.

Camera

There is a 20 megapixel camera on the HTC One M9 while its competitor has a 16 megapixel version with OIS.

Price

In this category, the HTC One M9 is costlier but it can be purchased for $199 with a two year contract while the Huawei Mate 8 with 64 GB internal storage is priced at $580 unlocked.
