With the iPhone SE, Apple is hoping that it has a device capable of taking on much bigger smartphones and winning. However, if the iPhone SE wants to gain any traction, it will have to surpass the Galaxy S7 Edge, which was released recently by Samsung, and this is how these two devices compare.

Design

When it comes to design, the iPhone SE has several strong points, one of which is its metal unibody that gives it a premium look. The device comes with rounded corners and it has a fingerprint scanner incorporated into its home button. However, it looks much like any other smaller smartphones and has no special features. On the other hand, the Galaxy S7 Edge has a great look and dual curved edges on its display, which can be customized to display important contacts, panels of apps, notifications, and even lights up when specific contacts call. However, the device only has metal on its frame and its back panel is made from Gorilla Glass 4. Its fingerprint scanner is incorporated into the home button, but it also has an IP68 rating, which means it is water and dustproof. As for colors, the iPhone SE comes in gray, gold, silver, and rose gold, while the Galaxy S7 Edge comes in black, white, gold, and silver.

Display

On the S7 Edge is a Super AMOLED display and it measures 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 534 pixels per inch. As for the iPhone SE, it has an IPS LCD display measuring 4.0 inches with a resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels and density of 326 pixels per inch.

Hardware

There is an Apple A9 chipset on the iPhone SE, coupled with a dual-core CPU and a PowerVR GT7600 GPU. As for the S7 Edge, it comes with the latest and fastest Snapdragon 820 chipset, coupled with a quad-core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU.

Memory

Only the S7 Edge has a memory slot that supports up to 200 GB of external storage, while the iPhone SE does not have one. As for RAM, the iPhone SE has 2 GB on board and its competitor has 4 GB.

Camera

The 12-megapixel camera on the S7 Edge is ranked at the number one spot on DxOMark, while the 12-megapixel version on the iPhone SE has not been ranked so far.

Price

With a two-year contract, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge costs $299, while the iPhone SE costs $399 unlocked.
