There is a new modular smartphone in town in the form of the LG G5, but traditional devices have not gone out of fashion and one of these is the HTC 10. Here is how these two devices compare in a face-off.

Design

Even though the LG G5 is a modular smartphone, there is nothing cheap about it as it has a metal body and a smooth back panel on which a fingerprint scanner is positioned. There is an Always-On display on the device and it shows the time and notifications without the user having to turn the screen on. As for colors, the device comes in titan, silver, pink, and gold, and there is a Magic Slot that can be used to add or remove modules. One of the modules available for the device has an extra battery and controls for the dual cameras at the rear, while another is a HiFi audio player. As for the HTC 10, it has a metal unibody, and adding to its elegant look is the shiny polish around the edges. There is a fingerprint scanner included on the button that is present on the front, and the device comes in gray, silver, and gold.

Display

The HTC 10 has a Super LCD5 display measuring 5.2 inches and a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 565 pixels per inch. As for the LG G5, it has an IPS LCD display measuring 5.3 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 554 pixels per inch.

Hardware

Both the LG G5 and the HTC 10 have Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset on board, coupled with an octa-core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU.

Memory

Each of these devices has a memory slot and each can support up to 200 GB of external storage. As for RAM, both the LG G5 and the HTC 10 have 4 GB.

Camera

When it comes to comparing cameras, the HTC 10 is ahead as it comes with a 12-megapixel version that is ranked at the top spot on DxOMark. Meanwhile, the LG G5 has a 16-megapixel camera and an 8-megapixel camera at its rear.

Price

The LG G5 costs $624 without a contract, while the HTC 10 costs $648 unlocked.
