Meizu MX5 release date, specs, features, news: New flagship smartphone will have 'full metal' body; releasing June 30
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Meizu has reportedly sent a press invitation to AndroidHeadlines confirming the launch of its flagship device, the MX5, which had been recently leaked online in photos and a video, revealing some of its key features. The invite pays homage to the 1987 movie classic "Full Metal Jacket" with the same words emblazoned across the invite, hinting that the Meizu MX5 could feature a full-metal body, as shown in a live photo leaked last week.
The Meizu MX5 has already received certification and is rumored to arrive with a 5.5-inch QHD display (2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and an atypical 5:3 aspect ratio). The flagship is expected to be powered by a MediaTek MT6795 chip, paired with 4GB of RAM. The most striking feature of the Meizu MX5 will be its huge 41MP camera with a Nokia PureView sensor that can shoot super slow-motion 1080p video at 480fps. The Meizu MX5 is rumored to arrive with a biometric sensor embedded in the physical home button.
Recently, a live photo of the Meizu MX5 leaked directly from China had confirmed that the flagship would have a metal body, instead of a glass back seen in the earlier leaked images of its larger variant, Meizu MX5 Pro, which is also likely to be launched alongside the MX5 on June 30.
The Meizu MX5 Pro recently received certification in China and the specifications listed on the website shows the device featuring a 6-inch Quad HD display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. The phablet will be powered by a 64-bit octa-core Samsung Exynos 7420 processor, paired with 4 GB RAM, and support 4G LTE (TD-LTE networks). Meizu's upcoming device will sport a 20-megapixel camera, a fingerprint scanner, a 4000 mAh battery, and will ship with Android Lollipop pre-installed, along with Meizu's Flyme UI installed on top.
Stay tuned for the latest news on the release of the Meizu MX5 and the Meizu MX5 Pro on June 30.
