Heading into EVO 2016, rumors about a third "Kombat Pack" being officially revealed for "Mortal Kombat X" made the rounds online after an interesting tweet from "Mortal Kombat" co-creator Ed Boon caught the attention of many fans.

For those who may have missed it, the tweet simply indicated that more news about the currently available installment of the "Mortal Kombat" franchise was still to come, though the curious construction of the tweet itself is what led many fans to believe that the details were set to be shared during EVO 2016.

After all, it didn't seem like an accident that the letters e,v and o were unusually capitalized.

Alas, EVO 2016 has come and gone and a third "Kombat Pack 3" was not confirmed, much to the chagrin of many fans. No news about "Mortal Kombat X" was shared at all during the recently concluded event and there may be a reason for that.

In a new tweet, Boon revealed that the big announcement was apparently not planned for EVO.

Boon added that the announcement is still coming, though a date for when it would be made was not given or even hinted at this time around.

Boon has also not specified exactly what the upcoming news is about so fans remain unaware of whether or not they are indeed getting a third "Kombat Pack" or perhaps something else entirely.

Still, it would seem that the upcoming announcement figures to be some kind of big reveal since teasing it for this long and having it turn out to be something wholly unremarkable would probably not be a wise move.

Hopefully for fans, the wait for the announcement will be worth it, meaning they do end up getting that "Kombat Pack 3" they've been dreaming about.

More news about "Mortal Kombat X" and the possible announcement of a "Kombat Pack 3" should be made available soon.
