Oklahoma City Thunder trade rumors 2016: Jeff Green making a comeback?

Since Kevin Durant left, the Oklahoma City Thunder busied themselves finding solid players who will aid Russell Westbrook in keeping the team competitive. If the search is still on, they might be interested in bringing back veteran forward Jeff Green who is currently with the Orlando Magic.

Green started his National Basketball Association career with the franchise when it was still the Seattle Supersonics until it moved to Oklahoma City and changed its name. He spent nearly four seasons with the organization before being traded to the Boston Celtics in the 2010-11 NBA season.

Aside from these squads, Green also saw action for the Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Clippers before joining the Magic this year.

Green is neither a prolific scorer nor a star player but maybe the reason why he is linked to the Thunder is because of his efficiency on the floor. The 30-year-old is a good role player who can contribute on both ends and has the intangibles. These qualities are important for the Thunder, especially now that they are aiming to complete a stellar supporting cast for Westbrook.

Along with this, Green is also filling a void at the small forward position if he comes back to Oklahoma City.

In a suggestion, the Thunder will give up rookie Alex Abrines, forward Kyle Singler and a future first-round pick to the Magic to acquire Green. This might be enough for a switch to materialize.

Similar with a few other teams in the league, the Magic are loaded at the frontline and they may need to dispose some big men to prevent crowding.

With the Thunder, Green could be a starter or a reserve for head coach Billy Donovan. Whatever his role is, it is expected that he will be of big help to Westbrook and company as they continue unveiling a new chapter.
