Soon, the wait might be over as Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is expected to see action in their preseason run which opens on October 4 versus the Boston Celtics.

In the 2014 National Basketball Association (NBA) draft, the Sixers selected Embiid with the third overall pick. However, a nagging right foot injury sidelined him for what could have been his first two seasons as a professional.

Despite this, Philly had faith in Embiid and decided to stick with him until he recovered from the health setback.

This year, a number of clips showing Embiid working out spread which delighted Sixers and basketball fans, but the good news is not stopping there. In a recent podcast, Philadelphia head coach Brett Brown had great remarks regarding the 22-year-old's progress.

"He just is so on track, he's on track in his head, he's on track physically. I will tell you that, behind closed doors, physically, mentally, recent scans medically, everything is pointing in the right direction," Brown shared as transcribed by ESPN.

Brown also confirmed Embiid's participation in the Sixers' preseason games this year.

All of these are steps to the right direction for the Sixers who dwelled at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and league standings for the past few seasons.

Philadelphia's new campaign brings a lot of promise with Embiid expected to play and the addition of this year's top pick Ben Simmons.

However, Embiid's possible debut is also the reason why the Sixers are shopping both Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor this off-season.

Because Embiid and Simmons are going to be added to the roster, the front line for the Sixers will be loaded. If no one is dealt, Brown and the entire coaching staff will have troubles with their rotation for the no. 4 and 5 positions.
