'Reign' season 3 episode 2 spoilers: Official synopsis teases Catherine and Elizabeth's plans on the brink; Mary and Francis are in love again

"Reign" has just officially started holding court for a new season last Oct. 9. With Catherine and Elizabeth's plans on the verge of falling apart, what else is next for Mary and Francis and their hold on power?
Episode 2 of "Reign" season 3 is titled "Betrothed" and it shows the repercussions of Catherine de Medici's (Megan Follows) alliance with the Queen of England, Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten). In the official synopsis posted by TV Over Mind, Catherine's life won't be any easier as she is brought back to France. The former Queen is immediately imprisoned when she sets foot in her son's domain. As for Elizabeth I, she gets the blunt end of a political backlash.
Life for the other royal characters is not going to be easier either. The synopsis reads:
"Mary (Adelaide Kane) is forced to make some difficult decisions about securing Scotland's future and Lola (Anna Popplewell) is conflicted in her feelings for Narcisse (Craig Parker)."
Life is surely going to be hard for Francis' mother. Some screen grabs for the next episode posted by the same website show her in prison and in tattered clothes. In a few photos, she even looks like she might be begging her son to reconsider her punishment.
But if Catherine is in shambles, Mary and Francis seem to be doing well. Despite the synopsis' teaser on a difficult decision for Mary, the royal couple seems to be back in love. More of this love shines through in more photos for the third episode, "Extreme Measures."
In the official synopsis, it says that the two join forces to hold on to Francis' legacy. The King of France is growing weaker everyday and his wife must do everything she can to mask this weakness. Because desperate times call for desperate measures, the Queen of Scots turns to an "unlikely ally."
Watch "Betrothed" and "Extreme Measures" on Oct. 16 and 23, respectively. "Reign" airs new episodes for season 3 on The CW every Thursday night.
