Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime release, specs, features: Smartphone with FHD display drops

(Facebook/SamsungMobile)Samsung recently released the Galaxy J7 Prime in Vietnam.

Samsung is still expanding its Galaxy series with no signs of stopping. The newest smartphone from the South Korean company, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime, has recently been released and it boasts a full HD display.

The smartphone does not differ very much from the Samsung Galaxy J7 2016, which was released earlier this year. Even though this is the case, the Galaxy J7 Prime still has a lot to offer.

Coming in at 5.5 inches, the IPS display uses Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and 2.D curved glass. It has a screen resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. Under the hood, the Galaxy J7 Prime uses an Exynos 7870 chipset and is powered by an octa-core processor that clocks at 1.6 GHz. According to GSMArena, its GPU is a Mali-T830MP2 and it has a battery capacity of 3,300 mAh. It runs on Android Marshmallow out of the box.

As for its memory, the smartphone has 3 GB of RAM on board, as well as 32 GB of internal storage. However, it can accommodate a microSD card slot that can take up to 256 GB of additional memory. For security, the device incorporates the now-staple fingerprint scanner. Other features include a microUSB slot, a GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, and dual SIM capabilities.

Design-wise, the Galaxy J7 Prime is quite sleek, using a metal casing, and comes in two colors: black and gold. It has two cameras. The main or rear camera comes with 13 megapixels, autofocus, and LED flash. It also boasts touch focus, face detection, and a panorama feature, to name a few. Its secondary, front-facing snapper comes with 8 megapixels with an aperture of f/1.9 and LED flash.

Samsung's latest addition to its Galaxy J series hit the Vietnam market first. It is roughly priced at $280 (VND 6,290,000), which is one of the company's more affordable smartphones. It remains unknown if the South Korean tech giant plans on releasing the device in other countries any time soon.
