At the rate that NFL teams such as the Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns and New York Jets are moving, it is likely that quarterback Colin Kaepernick is staying on with the San Francisco 49ers.

The teams mentioned were the ones in dire need of a quarterback and Kaepernick seemed to be a logical choice. The Broncos and the Browns were believed to be the ones in hot pursuit of Kaepernick but there has been no aggressive push to acquire the 28-year-old quarterback.

It is no secret that the 49ers are shopping Kaepernick but new head coach Chip Kelly seems to be interested in making things work for the spiraling quarterback. Kelly admits that he is a big Kaepernick fan and would want to work with him.

While there is time, the book on possibly trading Kaepernick is not totally closed despite the 49ers claiming that they are scoffing offers before April 1.

The 49ers need to consummate a deal before the said date since Kaepernick's $11.9 million salary will become fully guaranteed on that date.

While the 49ers seem to be open to the idea of working it out with Kaepernick, the quarterback could go a different but risky route.

This entails staying away from the voluntary program and opening up possibilities for a possible trade or release.

One reason behind Kaepernick's dip is his injuries. He is currently undergoing recovery from multiple injuries covering his shoulder, thumb and knee.

With the 49ers and Kaepernick prohibited from engaging in talks concerning football, a lot could hinge on how his follow-up examination turns out.

In the event that he fails to pass the physical, the 49ers will be unable to release Kaepernick unless they come to a settlement.
