Sony Xperia C6 Ultra release rumors: Despite leaks, Sony will reportedly discontinue Xperia C series

Sony is making sure that it stands out in the smartphone market with its Xperia C6 Ultra. Leaked photos suggest that this device looks like the Xperia C5 but is only slimmer.
This isn't the first time that leaked pictures of the Xperia C6 Ultra have popped up online. However, according to the leaks from Steve Hemmerstoffer, fans might see the device released soon and it may join the Xperia Z lineup expected to come out this year.
Based on the renders, the Xperia C6 Ultra is speculated to be a phablet instead of simply a tablet. Rumored specs include an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 paired with 2 GB RAM and a 16 GB expandable storage. The device is rumored to sport a 6-inch display.
As for the camera specs, the Xperia C6 Ultra is said to have a 20-megapixel main camera at the back, which will most likely be positioned at the top-left corner of the device. It will also reportedly have a 16-megapixel selfie shooter coupled with LED flash.
While leaks and renders of the Xperia C6 Ultra continue to circulate online, a new report somehow contradicts the existence of this Sony device. Tech Times reported that the company may ditch the Xperia C lineup, along with Xperia Z and Xperia M series.
Presentation slides from Sony that were leaked reportedly showed the company's plans for the future. The report stated that Sony may need to direct their focus toward the Xperia X series and this lineup will include entry-level, mid-range and high-end models, which means that other Xperia models will be discontinued.
It remains to be seen if there's truth to this unconfirmed report as Sony has yet to give an official announcement regarding this matter. However, it could be possible since the company had announced earlier that there will be no Xperia Z6 releasing this year.
Until then, gadget aficionados should take this report with a grain of salt.
