'The Purge 4' release date announced for July 2018

The next installment of the dystopian action horror film "The Purge" finally has a release date.
James DeMonaco, the creator of the film franchise, revealed that Universal Pictures will release "The Purge 4" on July 4, 2018.
But unlike the first three films, DeMonaco will no longer work as the director for the still untitled film. According to reports, he will focus on writing the script for the film and work with producers Jason Blum from Blumhouse Productions and Brad Fuller, Michael Bay, and Andrew Form of Platinum Dunes to look for its next director.
The other details about the next installment of "The Purge" remain under wraps at the moment. But DeMonaco told Cinemablend that the new chapter will look back at how the events began.
"That seems the natural next chapter in this, is to say, 'Alright, we've done this trilogy. We see how it got to this point of someone trying to end it — this presidential figure. Now let's go back and see how the f*** all this came about,'" DeMonaco stated. "How did this country get to a place where we were now accepting this kind of atrocity, this terrible thing, each year?"
The film franchise began in 2013, featuring lead stars Ethan Hawke, Lena Headey, Adelaide Kane, Edwin Hodge, Rhys Wakefield, and Max Burkholder.
The next installment titled "The Purge: Anarchy" was released in July 2014. Among the cast of the first film, Hodge was the only one who reprised his role as "The Stranger" from the first film. This time, the secrets of The Stranger's identity were officially unveiled. He was called "Dwayne" at the time. The film also starred Frank Grillo, Zach Gilford, Michael K. Williams, Keith Stanfield, Carmen Ejogo, and Kiele Sanchez.
On the other hand, the third chapter of the movie was released in July 2016. Grillo, who portrayed the role of Sergeant Leo Barnes in the second movie, joined Hodge in the film called "The Purge: Election Year." It is the most successful installment of "The Purge" franchise to date.
The movie centers on the 12-hour event where all crimes including murder will be considered legal. The beginning of the event will be announced nationwide by an Emergency Broadcast System.
There are no news about the theme and cast of "The Purge 4," yet it will not be a surprise if Hodge will still be a member of the cast in the upcoming movie.
