'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 spoilers, plot, cast rumors: Nina Dobrev returns as Sybil?

Following the recent reveal that "The Vampire Diaries" season eight will soon include a mysterious character named Sybil, a new and interesting report has emerged which suggests that she may be played by none other than fan favorite Nina Dobrev.
According to Movie News Guide, Dobrev is speculated to make her big comeback. Instead of returning as Elena Gilbert, the outlet says she might appear in the eighth season as Sybil. Though this has not been confirmed yet, it's interesting to see what fans will do with this bit of news.
When Dobrev made an audio appearance in "The Vampire Diaries" season seven, fans went crazy, with many speculating that the show may be prepping to give her a warm welcome once its eighth installment arrives.
For the past months, many viewers have been wanting to see Elena and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) reunite. Some believe that Elena's voice, which was heard in the finale of the previous season, may be hinting of the two's much-anticipated reunion.
On the other hand, The CW has not said anything about Somerhalder and Dobrev finally coming together once again on screen. As fans already know, Somerhalder is already married to Nikki Reed, and rumor has it that Somerhalder's marriage may be preventing the exes from working together again.
So who is Sybil? Late last month, TV Line reported that the show is casting for the recurring role. Though Dobrev's comeback as Sybil may be a little unbelievable at the moment, her capabilities in acting will surely fit in with the role since the new character is "an immortal who uses her immeasurable power and influence other people, manipulating them into twisted games and tests for her own amusement and glorification."
Buddy TV says the show's decision to bring back Dobrev in the form of Sybil could be reasonable enough since Elena's return would mean the possible death of Bonnie (Kat Graham). Though Graham has announced that the upcoming "Vampire Diaries" installment will be her last, it will not be a very good sight for her fans to see her character get killed off just so Dobrev's character can come back.
"The Vampire Diaries" season eight is slated for premiere on October 21 at 8 PM on The CW.
