"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 took a brief hiatus but the series will be back this week with an exciting new episode.

The upcoming episode 6 for "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 is titled "Detoured on Some Random Backwoods Path to Hell" and the episode will revolve around Caroline and the twins.

There have been reports that in the coming episode 6 of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, the sirens Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) and Seline (Kristen Gutoskie) will now be targeting Caroline's (Candice King) twins.

Speaking to Spoilers Guide, Gutoskie revealed that one of the main reasons why the sirens have taken a keen interest in the twins is because the young girls remind the sirens so much of themselves when they were young too.

Gustoskie also revealed that since Sybil and Seline were powerful and supernatural, but were not able to fit in, they relate to the twins a lot. The only difference between the siren twins and Caroline's twins is that the young girls have parents who cared deeply for them compared to the twins who were outcasts even when they were teenagers.

The promo for "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 6 has been released and it shows Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) still completely under Sybil's control. While under Sybil's influence, Damon would stop at nothing in his quest to kill not only his brother, Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), but also everyone he loves in Mystic Falls.

In a report by Inquisitr, they speculated that it was possible that Sybil and Seline are not really trying to hurt the twins, but that they are planning to offer the twins to Cade (Wolé Parks) so that Cade would let them off their deal with the devil.

With Gustoskie claiming that Sybil and Seline seem to relate to the twins, there are other speculations that the sirens might have a completely different plan for the twins.

Fans will soon get the answers when "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 6 airs on Friday, Dec. 2, 8 p.m. EDT on The CW. In the meantime, fans can watch the trailer for new episode below.
