Smartphones from Xiaomi have been capturing the attention of customers in Asia and it appears that the company is looking to build on the good word of mouth that has been spreading. More importantly, there are indications that a new Redmi 4 smartphone is in the works and will come with a Helio X20 chipset to refresh the popular lineup.

The rumors about the upcoming Redmi 4 surfaced recently when the device was spotted in leaked images. As soon as the image surfaced, it spread on the Internet even though Xiaomi has not confirmed that it is working on any such smartphone. Reporting on the rumor, PhoneRadar states that it is not surprising that Xiaomi is considering making the Redmi 4 since the previous versions of the Redmi 3 have sold well.

There are several versions of the Redmi 3 that released last year, namely the base model Redmi 3, along with Redmi 3 Pro and the Redmi 3s. So it is likely that the upcoming Redmi 4 is also going to arrive with variants. More importantly, in the leaked images that refer to the Xiaomi Redmi 4, the device was listed as one of the many smartphones that would arrive with the Helio X20 chipset from MediaTek. This particular chipset is a deca-core version and it has not been used on many smartphones since it was launched.

As for the design of the upcoming Redmi 4, its likely that it is going to be another metal-bodied version with a cheap price tag. Xiaomi followed the same tactic when it released the Redmi 3 last year and the device and its variants had a metal unibody. As for the Redmi 4, it is expected to have a 5-inch display.

Coming to the price of the device, it is thought that it will be in line with the Xiaomi Redmi 3.

Finally, it is not known whether the upcoming Redmi 4 will have a fingerprint scanner or if it will only be offered on a costlier variant.
