"The 100" season 3 shocked fans with the death of a favourite character. What does this mean for the show?

"The 100" has certainly never been a show that played it safe or one that catered to popular opinion, something the show proved when they killed off Finn (Thomas McDonell) last season. It was shown once more when one of the show's most popular characters, Lexa (Alycia Debnam-Carey), was killed off in the previous episode. Fans are still reeling from the shock and anger that ensued, which had the series' writers and showrunners busy as they tried to appease and explain the decision.

"The 100's" showrunner, Jason Rothenberg, explained to TV Line that Lexa's death was inevitable, given that the actress was starring in "Fear the Walking Dead." He revealed that he had to "beg, borrow and steal to get AMC to allow us to use her for as many episodes as we did." But more than that, the character's death also served a larger purpose of tying in the A.I. story and the Grounder's.

Unfortunately, Lexa's death is far from the last one fans will see in the show.

A synopsis for episode 8, "Terms and Conditions," teases that despite Kane's (Henry Ian Cusick) efforts to find a peaceful resolution to recent events, he might be forced to use drastic measures. Meanwhile, Pike (Michael Beach) suspects there is a mole in Arkadia while Raven (Lindsey Morgan) reaches out to Jasper (Devon Bostick) for help in putting her plan in motion.

A trailer for the upcoming episode hints at the chaos currently reigning in Arkadia. The clip starts with Bellamy (Bob Morley) and Pike checking the perimeter. Bellamy is then seen telling Kane that "there are threats outside the walls," to which he counters that there are threats inside. Pike reveals that he wants to have a camp wide surveillance, something that the others are not happy about. Kane believes that Pike is turning them against each other and several scenes show the others have started planning on how to stop him. Things turn serious as Kane executes a plan to stop the Chancellor, which results in fights breaking out among the Sky people. The clip ends with Kane apparently hitting Pike. But the question is - did he kill him?

There certainly are a lot of questions that fans are demanding the answers to. Hopefully, the show will answer some of them in the next episode.

"The 100" season 3 episode 8 will be aired on March 10 on The CW.
