The box office run of "Furious 7" is cooling down and the results are staggering. The film has already grossed more than $1.4 billion in sales, buoyed by an absolutely massive $1.1 billion in foreign territories. The franchise is at its peak, with the entire team now looking forward to the next installment and trying to figure out how they can follow up on such a massive hit.

"Furious 8" has already been confirmed and tentatively slated for an April 2017 release, as per this report by The Mirror UK. The cast and crew, particularly the franchise's main star Vin Diesel, all seem keen to return and are hopeful that the project will surpass the over the top action featured in the most recent installment.

As for what the next installment will hold in a post Paul Walker era, fans will need to look for certain individuals who appeared in "Furious 7" and could possibly return in the upcoming film. One strong contender is Owen Shaw from "Furious 6" who was believed to be dead, but was later discovered to be barely alive (though in far from optimal condition) at the start of "Furious 7". With his brother Deckard Shaw still alive but imprisoned at the end of "Furious 7", the next film could potentially bring back the two brothers as they seek revenge against Dom and crew.

Another strong candidate for a more important role in the next film is Mr. Nobody, played brilliantly by Kurt Russell. The shadowy government agent had provided Dom and the rest of the gang with an array of high tech toys, and with the action only getting bigger and bigger, his continued role in the franchise seems more or less certain.

"Furious 7" is currently wrapping up its box office run. "Furious 8" is due to be released a few years from now in April 2017.
