'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' news: The Collector may not appear in the sequel, says actor Benicio Del Toro

The mysterious character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Taneleer Tivan, also known by his nickname as The Collector, will not come back in the much awaited sequel "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," which is currently being helmed by James Gunn, according to Hollywood actor Benicio Del Toro.
"I don't think so. They would have told me... I do hope to play that character again at some point," the actor told Superhero Hype when asked if he will return back to the cosmos in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." So for fans who were enthralled by his performance and can't wait to see him again, they're just going to have to wait a bit longer.
However, Del Toro's absence from the sequel doesn't mean that he will not come back for more movies. The Collector still has one of the other Infinity Stones in his possession that Thanos will try to complete, presumably during "Avengers: Infinity War." To be more specific, Taneleer Tivan is currently holding the Aether (or Reality Stone), which was given to him by Lady Sif during the mid-credit scene of "Thor: The Dark World."
So far, the only confirmed cast members who will reprise their roles in the sequel, according to Superhero Hype, are: Chris Pratt as the outlaw Star-Lord, also known as Peter Quill, Vin Diesel as the lovable giant tree Groot, Bradley Cooper as the wisecracking, highly intelligent Rocket Raccoon, Zoe Saldana as the galaxy's most dangerous female assassin Gamora and Dave Bautista as the ruthless muscle Drax the Destroyer.
For now, though, it is highly advisable for the fans to just wait for more updates coming from Marvel in terms of casting, since not a lot has been confirmed about the upcoming sequel.
Meanwhile, according to Cinemablend, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is now set to begin filming sometime early this year. The much awaited sequel is expected to hit cinemas on May 5, 2017.
