With months left before Apple's September event, rumors about upcoming devices that say these could be released during the affair have been going into overdrive. While most are concentrated on the iPhone lineup, there is a lot of interest in what the company will do with the upcoming iPad Mini 5 and if an iPad Air 3 will also accompany it.

Among the websites referring to the iPad Mini 5, one has hinted that the small-sized tablet will come with an upgraded chassis created from a 7000-series aluminum. More importantly, 7000-series aluminum has already been employed by Apple on the iPhone 6s lineup which released last year and resulted in the device being more resistant to bending under external stress. In addition to the new alloy being used on the body, it is likely that Apple is going to ensure that it is thinner than the previous model and measures about 5mm.

It is also likely that Apple is going to bring several features that it introduced on the iPad Pro lineup to the iPad Mini 5. These features include support for the Apple Pencil and possibly even a Smart Connector. There are also some rumors that the iPad Mini 5 will have 3D Touch, which is currently only present on the iPhone 6s lineup. Coming to the release date, it is expected to happen sometime in September of this year.

As for the iPad Air 3, the rumors are nebulous as Apple deliberately chose not to refresh the lineup last year. Instead, the company concentrated on releasing the iPad Pro with a 12.9-inch screen. Apple also chose to bring out the iPad Pro with a 9.7-inch screen a few months ago, and many were sure that the iPad Air 3 would never see the light of day. However, as Apple's WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) is due to happen next month, rumors have arisen that it will be released with a body that measures 6.1 mm in thickness. Also, there are rumors that the processor on the device will be bumped to the A10. It is also expected to have four speakers onboard.
