Competition from Asian smartphone manufacturers has been mounting and one of the best devices that arrived recently was the OnePlus 3. Here is how it compares to the Moto Z, which was announced by Motorola recently and comes with Mods.

Design

Crafted from steel and aluminum, the Moto Z has a premium look and comes with a fingerprint scanner in its home button. Additionally, the device has Mods which can be used to add materials to the back panels. There are also three mods, namely the Incipio offGRID Power Pack, the JBL SoundBoost speaker and the Moto Insta-Share Projector which can be attached to sixteen holes at the rear of the device. As for colors, the device is available in white and black/gold, black/gray and black/rose gold combinations.

Coming to the OnePlus 3, it has a traditional metal body crafted from aluminum and antenna lines at the back. The fingerprint scanner is included in the home button which is made from ceramic and it is therefore more durable that previous versions. As for colors, the device comes in gold and graphite.

Display

When it comes to size and display, both these devices are pretty much alike. The OnePlus 3 has an Optic AMOLED display measuring 5.5 inches and it has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch. As for the Moto Z, it has an AMOLED display measuring 5.5 inches with a higher resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a pixel density of 535 pixels per inch.

Hardware

Coming to hardware however, both these devices have similar chipsets. Each comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset that is coupled with a quad-core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU.

Memory

In terms of memory, the OnePlus 3 lags as it does not have a microSD slot and so external storage cannot be added. As for the slot on the Moto Z, it supports up to 256 GB. Coming to RAM, however, the OnePlus 3 is ahead with 6 GB and the Moto Z has 4 GB.

Camera

Onboard the OnePlus 3 is a 16-megapixel version with OIS and the Moto Z has a 13-megapixel version also with OIS.

Price

Comparing price, the OnePlus 3 costs $399 at full retail while the cost of the Moto Z has not been revealed.
