'Mr. Robot' season 2 cast news: Craig Robinson cast as Ray, Elliot's neighbour; two cast members promoted to regulars
Production for "Mr. Robot" season 2 just started recently, and it seems Elliot Alderson's world just got a little bigger as new cast members have been added and several others have been promoted to series regulars.
It was previously reported that Grace Gummer had joined the "Mr. Robot" cast as Dominique "Dom" DiPierro, an FBI field agent dedicated to finding out the people behind fsociety and the reasons behind the hacking of Evil Corp.
Now three more have joined the ensemble cast - Craig Robinson, Joey Bada$$ and Chris Conroy.
Entertainment Weekly reported that the "The Office" star is set to play Ray, "a neighbourhood local who reaches out to Elliot in his time of need." The comedian is known for his roles in "Hot Tub Time Machine" and its sequel and in "This is the End." He also headlined his own sitcom, "Mr. Robinson," on NBC.
Aside from Robinson, hip-hop artist Joey Bada$$ and Chris Conroy are also on-board with recurring roles. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former will play Leon, a "new close friend of Elliot's from the neighbourhood" who always talks to Elliot (Rami Malek) about the meaning of life while the latter will portray Derek, Joanna's (Stephanie Corneliussen) young lover.
"Mr. Robot" has also promoted Michael Cristofer and Corneliussen as series regulars. Cristofer will reprise his role as E Corp CEO Phillip Price, while Corneliussen will be back as Tyrell Wellick's (Martin Wallstrom) wife. Joanna has been described as someone who will do what is necessary to further her family's power and wealth. Now it seems that she will have a bigger part to be play in season 2.
"Mr. Robot's" main cast –Malek, Christian Slater (Mr. Robot), Carly Chaikin (Darlene) and Portia Doubleday (Angela) – will all be back to continue bringing life to Elliot's story. They will also be joined by Ben Rappaport (Ollie) and Tom Riis Farrell (Bill).
"Mr. Robot" season 2 will reportedly be back on the USA network sometime this summer.
