Maddie runs away from home, leaving a distraught Rayna and Deacon in the upcoming episode 16, titled "Didn't Expect It to Go Down This Way," of the fourth season of the country music drama "Nashville."

Rayna and Deacon are very worried when they discover that their daughter Maddie runs away from their home. Aside from the hardship of working her way back to the top, Julliette also feels threatened by Avery and Layla's relationship. Luke, on the other hand, has no other option but to find a new artist after Riff disappears. Autumn drives a wedge between Gunnar and Scarlett. Thomas Rhett also guest stars as himself, performing his hit single "Die a Happy Man."

The promo trailer for "Didn't Expect It to Go Down This Way" opens with a scene of Rhett performing on stage. On another stage, Layla performs with Avery, while a jealous Juliette watches in the audience. A furious Juliette says that she had to watch Layla and Avery "grind on stage." Meanwhile, a family meltdown causes Maddie to run away from home. Rayna visits Juliette and the latter asks her if everything is okay. Rayna couldn't help but break down in front of her.

In other related news, TV Line reported that "Nashville" maintained its standing in numbers. Last week, it garnered a total of 4.12 million viewers with 0.0 rating. Its ratings are steady since the midseason premiere in March.

The previous episode, titled "When There's a Fire in Your Heart," Maddie sneaked out of their house to play at a café after learning that Cash used to do it. In order to go out, she lied to Deacon that she's going to watch Cash play. The Ex's did their preparations for the first huge show with popular country singer Autumn Chase. Rayna thought of starting her own headlining tour again so Layla can be the opening act.
