'Supernatural' season 12 spoilers: No supernatural villains

Brothers Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) Winchester are taking a breather from fighting supernatural creatures in the upcoming season 12 of "Supernatural." According to the latest reports, the next season of the series will usher in the Men of Letters, who will serve as the main antagonists of the show. In contrast to the show's previous seasons, the rumored upcoming villains in "Supernatural" season 12 are devoid of supernatural powers.
According to Blasting News, it is not really surprising that the upcoming season of "Supernatural" will feature the Men of Letters as the series' main antagonists as they have been following the Winchester brothers for quite some time already. E! Online reports that with the departure of Elizabeth Blackmore from "The Vampire Diaries," there seems to be no more hindrance for her to appear more often on "Supernatural" beginning its season 12.
Meanwhile, the season 11 finale episode of "Supernatural," Lady Toni (Blackmore), a member of London's Men of Letters, was given the task to capture the Winchester brothers after the devastation that they left in their quest to defeat Amara. However, even before Lady Toni could capture them, Sam Winchester lied to her by telling that his brother Dean is already dead.
With this, it makes sense why the upcoming season 12 of "Supernatural" may feature the Men of Letters as its main antagonist as it is widely speculated that the series will feature the Winchester brothers running away from the organization in the series next season.
It can also be recalled that in the previous season of "Supernatural," Amara left Earth to be reunited with her brother Chuck/God (Rob Benedict). However, before she left, she brought back the mother of the Winchester brothers, mother Mary (Samantha Smith), from the dead. As to how the resurrection of their mother will impact Dean and Sam remains to be seen when "Supernatural" returns for its season 12.
"Supernatural" season 12 is expected to air on a Thursday night this fall on The CW.
