'Empire' season 2 spoilers: Empire's fall to bring Lyon family together

Season 2's midseason cliffhanger showed the fall of Lucious. Hakeem takes over Empire under the influence of Camilla Marks-Whiteman who seems to have been planning her revenge all along.
In the trailer released for the series' return, Hakeem is seen assuming his father's throne with Camilla beside him. A scene also shows Camilla entering the office with her two other sons, Andre and Jamal, in what seems to be an effort to win Hakeem back. The head of the family, Lucious, is determined to win his company back and asks for the help of his ex-wife in doing so. The rest of season 2 teases the importance of family as a voice in the background says that family is at the heart of Empire, and without this basic unit of society, the music dies.
Fans cannot wait to see the Lyon family reconcile with each other. The first half of season 2 has seen changes within individual characters which have also affected their relationships with each other. Andre's new found faith will be put to the test as Rhonda and his unborn child face danger. Jamal is also seen getting closer to Skye and even though the former is very much gay in the series, the visible chemistry between the two has earned them followers.
In an interview with Variety, the series showrunner, Ilene Chaiken, said that the intimate scene between Jamal and Skye shows the sexual fluidity that can happen to gay people and that there is no need to justify the act. While viewers, along with Lucious, are hoping Skye could indeed "fix" Jamal, Chaiken emphasized that, "We're very clear that Jamal is gay and Jamal is clear that he's gay."
When it comes to chemistry, viewers have always felt the love between Lucious and Cookie. Their relationship and personas may not be the most ideal characters to be portrayed on television, but the show has been successful in making their journey relatable to a wide range of audiences.
Will their effort to get Hakeem and Empire back lead their way back into each other's arms as well? Will Hakeem realize the importance of his family despite their imperfections before it's too late?
And what role will music maker Xzibit play in the life of the Lyons? "Empire" fans will find out when the series resumes on March 30.
