LG G5 vs LG G Flex 2: LG G5 has an edge over its curved-bodied rival

Last year, the G Flex 2 arrived with a curved body and the same design was carried over to a lesser extent on the flagship LG G4. However, this year, the LG G5 comes with a different design and modules that can be added on and here is how it compares to the G Flex 2.

Design

There is huge difference in design between these two devices, with the LG G5 coming with a full metal body and having no antenna lines on its back. However, the device has a slot at the bottom which can be used to add or remove modules and there are two already available from LG. One of which has external controls for a camera and an additional battery. The other module has a Hi-Fi audio player which also can be used separately. At the back of the LG G5 is a fingerprint scanner and the device comes in four colors: titan, gold, pink and silver.

Coming to the G Flex 2, it has a curve running from top to bottom and it has a plastic body with no metal on it. There is also no fingerprint scanner on the device but it has a coating on its back panel which can heal minor scratches within a few seconds. As for colors, the device has two options, red and silver.

Display

A curved P-OLED display measuring 5.5 inches is on the G Flex 2 and it has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 403 pixels per inch. As for the LG G5, it has an IPS LCD display measuring 5.3 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 554 pixels per inch.

Specs

Onboard the LG G5 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, a quad-core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU. As for the G Flex 2, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, coupled with an octa-core CPU and an Adreno 430 GPU.

Memory

There are memory slots on each of these devices. The LG G5 supports up to 200 GB while the G Flex 2 supports up to 128 GB. In terms of RAM, the G Flex 2 has 2 GB or 3 GB and the LG G5 either has 3 GB or 4 GB.

Camera

A 13-megapixel camera with OIS is onboard the G Flex 2 while the LG G5 has dual cameras on its rear, one of which is a 16-megapixel version and another is a 8-megapixel version.

Price

Comparing price, the LG G5 is expected to cost $750 unlocked while the G Flex 2 costs $598 unlocked.
