Talks on who will the next Abbie Mills in the fourth season of "Sleepy Hollow" have been rampant on the Internet ever since Nicole Beharie's exit from the show. The fact that FOX has yet to renew the series fuels speculations that there may not be new episodes to watch out for.

Abbie was killed during the fight against Pandora (Shannyn Sossamon) and The Hidden One (Peter Mensah) in the shocking season 3 finale. Her death left Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) as the only surviving Witness, putting the entire quest on hold and leaving him heartbroken.

In a joint statement to The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Clifton Campbell and 20th Century Fox Television thanked Beharie for being part of the show and shared that they were already planning new storylines if the series would be renewed for season 4.

"We feel we provided a wonderfully poignant conclusion for Abbie and showed some of the best moments between the Witnesses that we've seen onscreen. We thank Nicole Beharie for bringing Abbie and Sleepy Hollow to life. We are currently discussing season four, and should the series be picked up for another season, we have some exciting scenarios and new avenues we want to explore," they said.

So how will the series continue without Abbie? A plot with only one Witness is impossible, as the prophecy dictates there should be two. The showrunners will have to find someone who can take Beharie's place, either as a new character or as a resurrected Abbie. Movie Pilot has compiled a list of possible actresses who may fit the bill like Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Cynthia Addai-Robinson and Meagan Good. The website also believes Abbie could return when her soul finds a new body to inhabit. She may even be resurrected as a younger girl. In this case, Zendaya or Amandla Stenberg will reportedly be a good replacement.
